Nicolas Sarkozy at the 2009 World Championships.

Part of the speech on sport delivered by the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy yesterday was devoted to expressing his best wishes for the World Ski Championships in Val d'Isère. The speech delivered at the National Institute for Sport and Physical Education reminded us that France became a pioneer in the world of skiing when it organized the 1924 Winter Olympic Games in Chamonix. "The Championships must be a success," declared M. Sarkozy adding that in Val d'Isère "the two opposing mountains were doted with extremely spectacular race courses."
"If it's alright with you, I'd be delighted to attend," confessed the President.
