A hike up the Rhone Alps slope for the French National Ski Squad girls
7 members of the ladies national ski squad, including local girl Ingrid Jacquemod, hiked up the Rhone Alps race course, the very same slope that is to host the 2009 World Alpine Ski Championships Downhill and Super G events. This summer uphill trek followed the same route as winter downhill course. The aim was to reconnoitre the layout of the terrain, particularly "green" at this time of the year. The girls, accompanied by FFS officials including director of sport Jean-Philippe Vulliet, reached the start gate at the summit in one hour and ten minutes. A one-hour rest allowed sufficient time for a picnic in the sun at the Ouillette Lake, a natural lake only visible once the winter snows melt. During the picnic, Laurent Cretien handed out a questionnaire concerning each racers personal approach to the 2009 World Championships. Before returning to the village, he handed each racer from the team a personalized t-shirt as they paused on the launching ramp installed for the Championships Downhill race.
