Function and principles
The Environment Commission meets on a regular basis.

It operates independently from the other committees created by the Town Hall (Slopes, lifts and infrastructure) but is constantly in contact with them for project implementation.

It occupies a mainly advisory role :
- during the candidature phase, the commission assisted the town council and candidature committee to define its projects in favour of the environment and to comply with the FIS's environmental directives
- during the preparatory phase of the 2009 Championships, the commission is assisting the town council and the Organizing Committee in implementing all the promises made during the bid phase

The Commission has set the following objectives :
- To ensure that the promises made by the town are upheld
- To participate actively in achieving these promises
- To be a dynamic source of innovation between now and 2009, and beyond

The Commission has created a work forum via the Organizing Committee's internet site, created as a means of discussion allowing members to obtain information and to exchange views on current actions in order to limit meetings and excessive travel.
