Promises made during the Candidature
In 2003, Val d'Isère's World Championship candidature was the starting point for many projects based on the sustainable development of the town for the next fifty years. The World Championships are a symbolic stage of this development. It is the ideal opportunity to implement the various projects undertaken by the community acting in the interests of the alpine environment and way of life, or management of the expansion of the tourist trade. The event must be used as a springboard to work towards a new model resort integrating the above concepts and use the transience of the competition to encourage a more sustainable development.
