Accommodation for press teams and journalists
For over a year, the Organizing Committee has, as requested by the FIS, had in place a system to allow accommodation requests from accredited Media to be given priority.
To this end, the Organizing Committee's Accommodation department agreed to act as a single point of contact between journalists and accommodation providers, and to match requests with availability. Our task was made easier by the fact that the various letting agencies in Val d'Isère exceptionally agreed to open their booking service to us a year in advance, and to delay any requests from tourists by more than three months.
For over a year therefore, by dealing with us, only the Media have been able to benefit from the offers of accommodation available for the period of the World Championships in Val d'Isère. Thanks to this system, we have succeeded in reserving nearly 900 rooms in Val d'Isère for the various Media groups.
We have, on several occasions during this Media-only period, urged you to submit your requests.
However, with just six months to go to the World Championships, it will no longer be possible to continue this exclusive system. We can no longer ask the agencies to put on hold the requests from tourists who wish to come here next February.
We would therefore like to inform you that, as of 1 October 2008, our department will no longer be acting as the point of contact. All requests, whatever their nature, will be dealt with directly by the booking agencies. If, however, you would still like to take advantage of this specific service, there is only one month in which to send us your request :
accommodation@valdisere2009.org.
Of course, any requests received after 1 October 2008 will not go unanswered. Val d'Isère's 'Val Location' booking service, as well as the booking agencies in neighbouring resorts, will be available to deal with your requests with all the necessary attention.
However, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that your requests will from then on be in direct competition with requests from tourists. Furthermore, as the Championships are to be held during a peak period for tourists, it will be difficult for the various booking agencies to satisfy requests that have been made too late.
