The Solaise «Rhône-Alpes» slope
The Solaise "Rhône-Alpes" slope
In 1955, the very first "Critérium de la Première Neige" Giant Slalom took place on Solaise. It was already a venue for great skiing occasions. In 2009, the new "Rhône-Alpes" slope promises to create a sensation by hosting the women's Downhills and Super G.The view from the summit: an aerial panorama of the valley down to the Tignes dam and beyond. The start gate will be set on the ledge of the cable car top station at 2 536m ! Acceleration on the "balcon de Val" and on the "Plan". Small compression at the entrance to the forest, which precedes the "Arolle Millénaire" banking. Dizzying dive on the "Mur de la A" and "Traversée du Cirse" before negotiating the "Virage Russi", one of the principal technical difficulties of the racecourse. Acceleration on the "Mur Firmin" before the "Crete du Coq" compression quickly followed by the "Bosse de Dames" on the final schuss to the finish line at 1845 m
A wonderful sight, just as slope designer Bernhard Russi imagined it; a difficult course in perfect harmony with the mountainside.
